People who use filthy language inside the Puri Jagannath temple to be fined

The authorities have decided to slap a fine of Rs100 on any person who uses vulgar language inside the world famous 12th century shrine. The saddest part is that it is the temple priests and employees who mostly use vulgar language. The fine will be collected from 1st January 2007. Already an awareness program is in place. A fine on people carrying ‘gutka’ came into effect three months ago at the temple and it has been highly effective. The use of filthy language is not restricted to the Jagannath temple alone. Most of the famous temples face this problem. Even more worrying is the lack of cleanliness. (link)
