Chezhunganoor Mahadeva temple is located on the Kunnathukal - Perumkadavila Road at Chezhunganoor near Neyyattinkara in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Shiva. This beautiful temple is different from the normal Kerala temple architecture. The shrine has a round sanctum sanctorum – vatta sreekovil. A Shivling is worshipped in the west facing sanctum. The temple has a kodimaram (flagpole), namaskara mandapam and upa devatas shrines. Majority of the structures are made out of granite stone.
This is one of rare Shiva
temples in which Goddess Parvathi and Mahadeva are worshipped in a single
Shivling.
The annual festival in temple is note for ezhunnallathu, various rituals and pujas associated with Shiva temples including dhara, and homams. Caparisoned elephant and temple art forms of Kerala are part of the annual festival. The festival concludes with arattu procession on Thiruvathira nakshatra day in Meena Masam.
