Ganga Saptami – Ganga Puja

Ganga Saptami is believed to be the day when GangaRiver descended onto Earth. In 2018, the date of Ganga Saptami is April 22. Some scholars call it as the birthday or birth anniversary of Goddess Ganga. The day is also known as Jahnu Saptami. It is mentioned in numerous Hindu scriptures that Ganga descended on earth on the seventh day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon) in Vaisakha month.

Details of Goddess Ganga descending on to the earth on the seventh during the Shukla Paksha of Vaisakh month is mentioned in the Padma Purana and Narada Purana.

In Haridwar and other regions, Ganga Saptami is believed to be the day when Goddess Ganga descended from heaven onto Lord Shiva’s matted locks and then flowed onto the Himalayas.

Another legend has it that GangaRiver violently entered into the ashram of Saint Jahnu and distributed his meditation. Overwhelmed by the anger Jahnu Rishi drank Ganga and released her through his ear. This day is marked as Ganga Saptami.

Sri Ramanuja Jayanti 2018 date - Ramanujacharya Jayanti 2018

Sri Ramanujacharya Jayanti, or Ramanuja Jayanthi, celebrates the birth anniversary of Ramanujacharya, the famous South Indian philosopher who advocated that bhakti or devotional worship of Lord Vishnu in any form is the ideal method to attain salvation or moksha. In 2018, the date of Sri Ramanujacharya Jayanti is April 21 as per North Indian calendars and several South Indian panchangs. Please note that some communities will be observing the Jayanti on April 19 (especially in Tamil Nadu).  Moving away from the Advaita principles, Ramanuja amalgamated philosophy of Upanishads, Brahma Sutras and gave bhakti tradition a strong intellectual basis.

Matangi Jayanti - Matangi Mahavidya Jayanti

Goddess Matangi is one of the Dasa Mahavidyas. She is a manifestation of Goddess Parvati. Matangi Jayanti is believed to be the day when she made her appearance on earth. Matangi Jayanti 2018 date is April 18. It is observed on the Vaishakh Shukla Paksha Tritiya – third day during the waxing phase of moon in Vaishakh month as per traditional Hindu calendar in North India.

This form of Mother Goddess Shakti is only worshipped in very rare temples.
Some scholars also associate Goddess with Madurai Meenakshi who is worshipped at the famous MaduraiTemple in Tamil Nadu.

Basava Jayanti – Basavanna Jayanthi 2018 date

Basavanna Jayanti, or Basava Jayanti, marks the birth anniversary of the 12th Century thinker, social reformer, saint and religious teacher, Basaveshwara. In 2018, the date of Basava Jayanti is April 18 - as per the Karnataka Government Calendar. Basvanna is considered to be the founder of Lingayatism or Lingayat Sect or Veerashaivism. When you are lonely, if you keep thinking about the past or the reasons for loneliness then soon you will become a victim of depression or might need psychiatric help. 
Everything in this world is temporary, even your loneliness.

If we can make Bhagavan our companion then we will never be lonely. God is the only companion who is always with us. God is within us. So instead of searching for a companion outside realize the who is always within us.
