Pandarpur Palki Yatra – Pandharpur Kartik Ekadasi Yatra

The Pandharpur Yatra to the famous Vithoba Temple at Pandarpur in Maharashtra takes place four times in a year and one such annual Yatra takes place during the Karthik month (October – November) as per traditional Marathi calendar. In 2017, the date of Pandharpur Kartik Ekadasi Yatra is October 31. The Pandharpur Karthik Ekadasi Yatra culminates on the Prabodini Ekadashi day after new moon (Amavasi) in Kartik month.

The most famous Pandharpur Yatra is the Ashadi Ekadasi Waari Yatra which takes place during June - July.

Pandharpur Kartik EkadasiYatra begins on the first day of Kartik month and extends till the Kartik Purnima day. The most important day is the Prabodini Ekadasi day.

Pandharpur Kartik Ekadasi Yatra and the famous Ashadi Ekadasi Waari Yatra are interconnected through the famous Chatur Maas – the cosmic sleep of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that after Ashadi Ekadasi Waari Yatra Lord Vishnu goes into his cosmic slumber and wakes up on Kartik Ekadasi day.

Wise Sayings of Sri Ramakrishna

He who will learn to swim must attempt swimming for some days. None can venture to swim in the sea after a single day’s practice. So if you want to swim in the sea of Brahman, you must take many ineffectual attempts at first before you can successfully swim therein at last. The new-born calf feels unsteady and tumbles down scores of times before it learns to stand steady. So in the path of devotion slips are many and frequent until success is finally achieved. The fire made by burning bamboo is soon extinguished unless kept alive by constant blowing. Uninterrupted devotion is necessary to keep alive the fire of spirituality. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa
