Shasti July 2011 – Muruga Sasthi Vratam

Shashti Fasting dedicated to Lord Muruga is observed on the sixth day after Amavasai (no moon) and Poornima (full moon) in a traditional Hindu calendar. The Shasti after Amavasai is considered highly auspicious by Muruga devotees. Shasti fasting July 2011 date is July 6. Fasting on Sashti day is highly beneficial and some devotees observe a partial fasting or complete fast. Lord Muruga, also known as Shanmukha and Subramanian, is widely worshipped in South India, especially by Tamilians. In North India, Lord Muruga is known as Kartik or Kartikeya. Muruga worship is also prominent in Malayasia and Singapore. Many devotees make it a point to visit Lord Muruga temple on Sashti day. Those observing partial fast eat Prasadam from the temple. There is No Instant Knowledge and Instant Enlightenment – Swami Rama

People often come to me (Swami Rama) for instant knowledge, instant Samadhi or instant enlightenment. They say, ‘I do not want to do anything.
