Anarak Vrat begins in the Magh month and is dedicated to the
Keshava form of Sri Krishna. Anarak Vrat in 2026 begins on January 19. It is
observed for six months – Magh Shukla Paksha to Ashada Shukla Paksha as per
traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in North India .
The Vrat is a seasonal vrat and is observed for two seasons.
Hemanta and Shishir.
The mantra chanted during the period is Om Namah Keshavaya
Namah.
The vrat is observed for attaining liberation or moksha.
Special prayers are offered for six months on the Shukla
Paksha Dwadasi or the twelfth day during the waxing phase of moon. Visit to Vishnu Temple ,
Chanting of Vishnu Sahasranama and food donation should be performed.
