HMDA to Distribute Clay Ganesh Murtis (Idols) in Hyderabad

If you are looking to buy clay Ganesh Murtis for an eco-friendly Vinayaka Chavithi (Ganesh Chaturthi) in Hyderabad, India, then Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is distributing nearly 50,000 Ganesh idols made using clay and natural paints. The distribution centers are at 51 locations and are near 38 major water bodies in Greater Hyderabad. These distribution centers will be opened for public on September 9, 10 and 11.
Times of India reportsThe HMDA is taking the help of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and other colleges for distribution of the clay Ganeshas. Some organisations like SAVE have made about 50,000 idols of eight inches each and 500 big idols of 4.5 feet size with eco-friendly materials with the support of the metropolitan development authority.The idols would be sold to citizens at 50 per cent subsidized rates. For instance, an eight-inch idol would be sold at Rs 10 and big idol (4.5 feet) at about Rs 1,000.

Bhadrapad Mahina is the sixth month in a traditional Hindu Marathi calendar followed in Maharashtra. Bhadra Month 2018 in Marathi calendar is from September 10 to October 9. Ganesh Chaturthi (September 13, 2018), the most important festival in a Marathi calendar, is held in this month.
