Surya Grahan January 2009 in India – Suryagrahan – Solar Eclipse

A partial solar eclipse, Surya Grahan, will be visible in southeast India on January 26, 2009. According to NASA, the solar eclipse on January 26 is an Annular Eclipse. A partial eclipse will be seen in southern third of Africa, Madagascar, Australia, Southeast India, Southeast Asia and Indonesia. In India it will be visible from 14:02 hrs to 16:31 hrs (Indian Standard Time) on January 26, 2009. As per traditional Hindu calendar, January 26 is an Amavasi Day.

In India, Partial Solar Eclipse will be visible in Kerala, parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, parts of Jharkhand, West Bengal and northeastern states. Magh Mahina – Magha Month in 2011 in Traditional Hindu calendar in North India

Magh Mahina or Magha Mas, is the 11th month in traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India – Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. It is a highly auspicious month and the Magh Mela and Magh Snan at Sangam in Prayag takes place in this month. Makar Sankranti and Basant Panchami are also observed in Magh month. In 2011, Magh Month begins on January 20 and ends on February 18. Magh Krishna Paksha (waning phase of moon) is from January 19, 2011 to February 4, 2011. Magh Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon) is from February 4, 2011 to February 18, 2011. Some of the most important bathing dates during Magh mela falls in this month. Other important days include Mauni Amavasya on February 2, Basant Panchami and Saraswati Puja on February 8. The current year in traditional Hindu calendar is Vikram year 2067. In traditional Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati and Marathi Calendar, Magh month begins on February 4, 2011 and ends on March 4, 2011.
