Raksha Bandhan 2010 Date – Rakhi Festival 2010

Raksha Bandhan celebrates brother-sister relationship. Raksha Bandhan 2010 date is August 24. On this day, the sister ties ‘Rakhi’ on her brother and who pledge to protect her from any danger. Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi Festival, is observed on the full moon day (Purnima) in Shravan month. The festival is also known as Narial Poornima in Maharashtra.‘Raksha’ means protection, and ‘Bandhan’ here means to tie. On Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie Rakhi, a bracelet made of thread of different colors, on their brothers' wrist. When a girl or woman ties a Rakhi around the hand of a boy or man it means he will protect her from all dangers. Earlier, Raksha Bandhan was mainly celebrated in North and Western parts of India.
