Anukulya Sankalpa and Pratikulya Varjana hold significance within the framework of Saranagati, total surrender to the Supreme One. Anukulya Sankalpa involves the commitment to engage in actions that please Bhagavan Narayana, while Pratikulya Varjana entails refraining from activities that displease Bhagavan Narayana.
When it comes to fulfilling His preferences, the term
"sankalpa" is employed, emphasizing the need to consciously resolve
to align our actions with what He desires. Conversely, in the case of actions
contrary to His liking, there is no room for making resolutions and
subsequently following through. The term "varjana" denotes an
immediate and complete rejection, underscoring the importance of outright
refusing anything that does not meet His approval.
To cultivate conduct that brings joy to the Supreme One, it
is imperative to distance oneself from certain individuals. Specifically, one
should avoid those who equate the body with the atma. Understanding the
distinction between the atma and the body is not only essential but must also
be accompanied by actions that benefit the atma. Seeking guidance from an
Acharya becomes crucial in this pursuit, necessitating avoidance of those who
neglect the disparity between the atma and the body.
Similar to consulting a doctor for physical well-being,
spiritual well-being requires guidance from an Acharya. A third category of
individuals may possess the necessary knowledge and even seek Acharya's
guidance but erroneously believe that the atma can function independently. It
is crucial to recognize that the nature of the jivatma is one of subordination
to the Paramatma. Always remembering that the Supreme One is our Master, and we
are under His control is paramount.
