Once, a curious and adventurous goat, despite the stern remonstrances of his master, an experienced agriculturist, wandered into the dense jungle as the sun began to set. As he meandered through the shadows of the trees, a stealthy leopard, its eyes glinting with predatory intent, spotted him and began to follow.
The leopard, prowling closer, asked in a growl, "Why do you wander in the jungle at night, little goat?"
Without missing a beat, the goat responded boldly, "I have killed many mighty elephants in my time, but now, I am in search of a leopard to add to my conquests."
The sheer audacity of the goat's words struck terror into the heart of the leopard, causing it to hesitate.
Nearby, a cunning and opportunistic jackal overheard the exchange. Amused and sensing an opportunity, the jackal approached the leopard and taunted, "Shame on you, mighty leopard, to be frightened by a mere goat. Let us go and kill this goat together."
The leopard, wary of the jackal's sly nature, replied, "O jackal, you are known for your cunning ways and deceit. How can I trust you? The goat claims to be a brave warrior, having slain many elephants."
The jackal, with a glint of mischief in his eye, suggested, "If you do not trust me, let us tie our tails together. That way, we can aid each other in the time of need and ensure the goat, a tasty morsel for both of us, does not escape."
Reluctantly, the leopard agreed, and they tied their tails together, setting off to confront the goat.
As soon as the goat saw the two fierce animals approaching, he called out with feigned delight, "Ah, my dear friend jackal, you have done well in bringing the leopard to me, for it is he whom I have been searching for!"
The goat's fearless proclamation sent a shiver down the leopard's spine. Terrified, the leopard bolted towards a nearby precipice, dragging the unfortunate jackal with him. Unable to break free from the leopard's powerful pull, both the jackal and the leopard tumbled over the edge, plummeting to their deaths.
Thus, the brave words of the goat, used wisely, had frightened and defeated his enemies, proving the ancient wisdom of the proverb true.
