Kayaralam Sree Nichikkoth Kavu Temple – Theyyam Kaliyattam Thira Festival

Kayaralam Sree Nichikkoth Kavu temple is located at Kayaralam in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Puthiya Bhagavathi and Vishnumoorthi. The annual theyyam thira festival is held for two days in Malayalam Makara Masam – Makaram 28 and Makaram 29 (February 11 and February 12).

Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kayaralam Sree Nichikkoth Kavu temple are Puthiya Bhagavathi theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.

The shrine has a chathura sreekovil or square sanctum sanctorum for the main deities. There are other smaller sreekovils. Upa devatas are worshipped atop square platforms and under trees. Sankranti is an important day in a month in the temple.
