Panayal Nelliyadukkam Perunthatta Chamundeswari Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam Thira Kaliyattam Festival

Panayal Nelliyadukkam Perunthatta Chamundeswari Devasthanam temple is located at Nelliyadukkam near Panayal in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Chamundi and Vishnumoorthi. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for ten days in Malayalam Vrischika Masam – Vrischikam 21 to Vrischikam 30 (December 7 to December 16).

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Panayal Nelliyadukkam Perunthatta Chamundeswari Devasthanam temple are Ariyakkara Bhagavathy, Preunthatta Chamundi, and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.

The temple has a deerkha chathura sreekovil or rectangular sanctum sanctorum for the main deity. Certain deities are worshipped atop square platforms and under trees. The important pujas and rituals are observed on Sankranti day as per Malayalam calendar.
