Maniyara Puthiyaparambath Kozhummal Tharavadu Devasthanam Temple – Thira Kaliyattam Theyyam Festival

Maniyara Puthiyaparambath Kozhummal Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Mayyanganam in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi and Vishnumoorthi (Narasimha avatar of Bhagwan Vishnu). The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 15 and Kumbham 16 (February 17 and Feb 28).

The main temple is a chathura sreekovil – square sanctum sanctorum. There are other smaller sreekovils and raised square platforms for other deities. Some deities are worshipped under trees. Vishu is an important festival here. Sankranti in every Malayalam month is of importance.

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Maniyara Puthiyaparambath Kozhummal Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Kakkara Bhagavathy theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.
