Kriyasaram – Text On Temple Consecration And Festivals In Malayalam

Kriyasaram is a tantra grantham in Malayalam by Ravi Namboothiri. He was the son of Subramanian Namboothiri of Navashreni or Puthusseri Illam. There is no evidence regarding the place of the Illam. There is also no concrete proof regarding the period of the author. There are around 69 main titles in the book.

Kelalloor Chomathiri, who was a great collector and commentator of texts on Tantra, has mentioned about this text.

The text gives important details and information regarding Bimba Pratishta (consecration of murti in sanctum sanctorum) and other rituals associated with consecration. Consecration of Bimbam of Bhagavathy, Vishnu, Shiva, Ganapati, Sastha, Muruga and numerous other deities are explained in detail in the text. Renovation of temples, rebuilding of temples, naveekaranam, poojas and rituals for each deity are mentioned in the book. The text also provides important rules and regulations regarding temple festivals of each deity in Hindu pantheon.

The text has a commentary by Puliyannoor Narayanan Namboothiri. Kumberan of Samkshepamalika fame also has given a commentary on the text.
