Extra Shravan Month In Hindu North Indian Calendar In 2023 – Adhik Shravan Mahina 2023

There is an Adhik Shravan Mahina or Extra Shravan Month in Hindu North Indian Calendar in 2023. This extra month is a unique feature in Hindu lunar calendars which happens mostly once in 2.5 years. Adhik Shravan Mahina in traditional North Indian Hindi calendar in 2023 is from July 18 to August 16. The extra month is dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Krishna and is also known as Purushottam Maas. The current year as per traditional Hindu Vikram Samvant calendar is Vikram Samvat 2080.

Adhik Shravan Mahina 2023 Krishna Paksha (Waning phase of moon) is from August 1 to August 16

Adhik Shravan Purnima or Full moon day is on August 1, 2023. The Purnima begins at 2:44 AM on August 1 to 12:24 AM on August 2.
Adhik Shravan Amavasi or No moon day is on August 16, 2023. The Amavasi begins at 12:43 PM on August 15 to 3:08 PM on August 16.

Ekadasi fasting – July 29 (Purushottami Ekadashi)
Pradosh – July 30

Please note that Adhik Shravan month 2023 in traditional Hindu calendar followed in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka is from July 18 to August 16.

Nija Shravan month or the real Shravan month in 2023 in Hindu lunar calendar in North India is from July 4 to July 16 and then from August 17 to August 31.

Please note there is no concept of extra month is Hindu solar calendars followed in Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Adhik Mahina is only followed in Hindu lunar calendars.
