Panchamrutha Abhisheka and milk abhishekam are performed throughout the day. Devotees also perform abhishekam with flowers and bel patra (leaves of bilva or wood apple tree).

At Kashi Vishwanath temple, the Mangala aarti is performed by 12 priests and 12 brass lamps. Each of the 12 priests and 12 brass lamps represents the 12 Jyotirlinga temples in India. The Shivling at Kashi Vishwanath temple is considered to be the first or primary Jyotirlinga.

During daily worship, milk, curd, honey, water from Ganga River, charnamrit, bhang and datura are offered to the Shivling.

A pinch of bhang is added to the Panchamrutha Abhisheka. This is given to male devotees only as Prasad that too in very little quantity.
