Chowara Chidambaraswamy Temple – Sreemoolanagaram

Chowara Chidambaraswamy temple, also known as Sri Chidambareswara Mahadeva temple, is located at Chowara (on the banks of Periyar River) in Sreemoolanagaram in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The main deity worshipped in the temple is Shiva. The famous Nataraja form of Shiva is worshipped in the temple. The darshanam of Chowara Chidambara Swamy is towards east.

As per local people, the temple is one among the 108 Shiva temples in Kerala. It is believed that murti in the temple was consecrated by Parashurama avatar of Vishnu.

There are no upa devatas in the temple. The architecture of the temple is typical Kerala style temple architecture. The sreekovil is square in shape.

The important festival observed in the temple is Mahashivratri.
