Goddess Vimala in Hinduism

Goddess Vimala is an incarnation of Mother Goddess Shakti. She appeared on earth from the body part of Sati that fell on earth after the famous episode of Shiva carrying the body of Sati around the universe and Vishnu cutting it with his Sudarshan Chakra to save the world from total destruction.

Goddess Vimala appeared where the crown of Goddess Sati fell on earth.

A group of scholars claim that the spot is located at Kireetkona village, 3 Km from Lalbagh Court Road station under district Murshidabad, West Bengal, India.

Some scholars claim that the place is located on the banks of Ganga at Bhatnagar in Bangladesh. This temple is one among the 51 Shakti Peethas.

Please note that the spot where the navel of Goddess Sati fell is also dedicated to Goddess Vimla. A popular temple dedicated to Goddess Vimala is located at Puri in Orissa.
