Peepal Puja is dedicated to the peepal tree in Hinduism. It is also known as bodhi tree, pippala tree, peepul tree, or ashwattha tree.  Peepal Puja worship helps in having a long and fruitful married life. The ideal day to perform the puja:
  • Amavasya – No moon day
  • The puja can be also performed on any convenient day preferably in the morning.

Peepal Puja Mantra – How to Observe Peepal Puja?

Simple Peepal Puja Vidhi

  • The puja should be performed early morning after sunrise or during the pradosh period (1.5 hours before sunset).
  • Visit a peepal tree and offer pujas.
  • Wear white color clothes
  • The murti (picture, photo, painting) of Shiva or Shivling should be under the peepal tree.
  • Take a kalash fill it with water and put some white color flowers, til and white chandan in it. Close the kalash with a coconut and mango leaves. Keep this under the peepal tree near to the murti or Shivling. Smear the Kalash with white chandan.
  • A lamp should be lit using Til (sesame) oil. One wick is preferred.
  • Dhoop or Agarbatti should be of chandan.
  • White color flowers should be offered.
  • Offer white chandan (sandalwood paste).
  • Apply tilak using white sandalwood paste.
  • Offer white til (sesame).
  • The Prasad offered on the day is kheer or white color payasam. It should be later shared with family members and children. If not possible, then offer any seasonal fruit.
  • The mantra वं वृक्षाकाराय नमः शिवाय वं should be chanted 108 times. The count should be kept on a white chandan mala.
  • After the puja, the water in the kalash and items in it should be deposited under the peepal tree.

Special Offering and Pujas to Peepal

  • Pour water mixed with small amount of milk for peace and prosperity in life.
  • Offer white til (sesame) to peepal tree. Put til on a banana leaf and keep it under the tree. After puja, float it in a nearby river. This will help in removing Pitru dosha from family.
  • Walk around the peepal tree daily seven times for a happy and fruitful married life.
