Karmanghat Anjaneya Swamy Temple is dedicated to Lord
Hanuman and is located at Karmanghat in Saroornagar in Telangana in India. Karmanghat
Hanuman Temple was built in 1143 AD by the then Kakatiya king Sri Prataparudra.
Karmanghat Hanuman Temple exact location is Sagar Ring Road in Hyderabad.
Legend has it that King Sri Prataparudra discovered the
murti of Hanuman worshipped in the temple during a hunting expedition. Whiling
hunting, the king heard someone chanting Rama Rama. He looked around and soon
discovered that the chant was emanating from a murti of Hanuman.
That night he had a dream in which Hanuman asked him to
build a temple at the sight.
Another legend has it that Mughal Ruler Aurangazeb had ordered
the temple to be destroyed. But his soldiers could not go near the temple.
Aurangazeb himself arrived to destroy the Hanuman temple.
When he reached the spot he heard a roaring voice, which said, Mandir todna hai to, pehle tum karo man ghat – If you want to destroy the temple, then make your heart stronger.

The ruler realized the divinity in the area and retreated.
The place then got the name Karo Man Ghat. It later became Karmanghat.
The main murti of Hanuman worshipped in the temple is known
as Dhyana Anjaneya Swamy. The murti is 5 feet tall and it faces south. And
small utsava murti is used for procession.
The subsidiary deities in the temple are Ganesha, Lord
Jagannath, Goddess Durga, Venugopala, Navgraha, Bramarambasametha Lingeshwara,
Rama, Santhosi Mata, Krishna, Kashi Vishwanath, Goddess Saraswati, Subrahmanya
and Nagas.
The important festivals observed in the shrine are Hanuman
Jayanti and Ugadi.
