Kondalamma Temple is located at Narsapur in Andhra Pradesh.
The shrine is located near the Vasista River (also known as the Vasista
Godavari). The temple is dedicated to Kondalamma, a manifestation of Mother
Goddess Shakti.
In the year 1970, people of the region found a murti of
Goddess Kondalamma floating on the Godavari River. They took the murti, placed
it on the banks of the river, and made a temporary shelter for it using palm
leaves.
A week later, a cyclone hit the region. Houses and many
concrete structures were damaged in the cyclone. But people soon witnessed that
nothing happened to the Goddess Kondalamma’s temporary structure made using
palm leaves. Not even a single palm leaf had moved from its place.
The villagers then constructed a temple for the Goddess and
offered prayers. Since then there has been no damage in the village due to cyclone.
People to escape from nature’s fury worship goddess
Kondalamma of Narsapur. She is also worshipped for healthy children by newlywed
couples.
