Goddess Tripura Bhairavi

Goddess Tripura Bhairavi a manifestation of Mother Goddess Shakti and is the 8th Goddess among the ten Mahavidyas. As per some accounts she is believed to have emerged from the Shivling. Goddess Tripura Bhairavi is worshipped for defeating sensual desires and for attaining peace and prosperity. Detail information about the Goddess is found in the Kalika Purana.

Goddess Tripura Bhairavi is of reddish complexion and she is adorned with red garments. She has four arms and holds a garland in her upper right hand and the a book in the lower right hand. He lefts hands are in Abhaya and Varada Hasta – in the posture providing safety and granting boons.

Her face is noted for a pleasing smile. She is bedecked with all kinds of jewelry.

She wears garlands of human heads on her head, waist and neck.

She has three eyes and her manner of walking is like that of an elephant. She sits on a white ghost.
