devotees, is annually held from Ayodhya in India
to Janakpur in Nepal .
This is the Baraat or marriage procession of Bhagvan Sri Ram. He goes to

It is annually observed during Margashirsh month as per traditional Hindu
calendar followed in North India .
It is believed that the first Ram Baraat was organized around
125 years ago by Lala Kokamal, a cloth merchant.
In the marriage and procession, Bhagvan Sri Ram is
represented by Shaligram Shila and Mata Sita is represented by Tulsi plant.
