Sachiya Mata – About Goddess Sachiya Mata

Sachiya Mata is a powerful and fierce incarnation of Mother Goddess Shakti. Goddess Sachiya Mata is believed to the name given to Mahishasuramardini form of Durga by the Oswal Jaina Community in Rajasthan. The original murti of Sachiya Devi depicts the Goddess pressing down the demon Mahishasura on to the ground with her legs and the lion (Vahana or vehicle of Goddess) pouncing on the demon. Another image of Sachiya Devi is that of twelve-armed like the Mahishasuramardini form of Durga. It is stated that Ratnaprabha Suri, a Jaina teacher, was against worshipping the ferocious deity. He performed intense austerities and converted the ferocious form into pure form. The Goddess then came to be referred as Satyaka and she came to be known as Sachiya Mata. This form is mainly worshipped by Jains. The most famous temple dedicated to Sachiya Mata is located at Osian in Rajasthan.

The lower 100 petals is considered to be Kauravas, the five metals in the middle layer is considered as Pandavas, the three petals above is considered as Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and finally a single petal on top is considered as Sri Krishna. The flower is known as Passiflora Caerulea and is native plant of South America . Locals due to the unique combination of the petals are referring to it as the Mahabharata flower.
