Mother of Sita in Ramayana – Who is the Mother of Sitaji in Ramayan

Mother of Sita in Ramayana is a perplexing question. There is no straightforward answer to the question as to who is the mother of Sitaji. In Ramayan, Mata Sita is an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi and appeared on earth with the sole purpose of being the wife of Bhagvan Sri Ram, the incarnation of Vishnu.

Sita was found by King Janaka while ploughing the field. As she came up from earth, it is widely believed that Mother Earth of Bhumi Devi is the mother of Sitaji.

It must noted that some folklores and stories in certain communities suggest that Sita was the daughter of Mandodari, wife of demon king Ravana.
