Bakhorapur Temple – Goddess Kali Temple at Bakhorapur Village near Ara – Bakhorapurwali Temple in Bihar


Bakhorapur Temple is a popular temple dedicated to Goddess Kali and is located at Bakhorapur Village which is around 15 km from Ara and 65 km from Patna. This famous Kali Temple in Bihar is also known as Bakhorapurwali Temple.

The murti that is worshipped in the temple is very old but the temple was built during the 19th century.

Apart from Goddess Kali, the temple also has murtis of Kal Bhairava and other forms of Goddess Durga. An upasana temple is the vicinity has murtis of 21 gods from the Hindu pantheon.

Animal sacrifice is not practiced in the temple. Devotees bring male goats to the temple and small part of the ear of the goat is cut and offered as sacrifice.

A unique aspect of the temple is that the temple has nine pandas. Usually only seven pandas are seen in most temples.
