Varaha Temple - Lakshmi Varaha Temple at Demal Village in Kendrapara District in Odisha

Varaha (Boar) is the third incarnation or Avatar of Hindu God Vishnu. Temples exclusively dedicated to Varaha are very rare. Lakshmi Varaha Temple located at Demal Village in Aul in Kendrapara District in Odisha is one such rare temple. The Varaha murti worshipped at the temple is made from a single piece of black stone. The temple also has the footprints of Lakshmi Varaha. Varaha is worshipped in the temple along with Bhudevi and Goddess Lakshmi. Other murtis that are worshipped in the temple include Shiva, Sri Jagannath, Hanuman, Sri Chaitanya Dev and Radhakrishna. The chief festive occasions observed are Bakula Amabasya, Baraha Dwadasi, Kanchi Abhijan (Saraswati Puja), Kartik Purnima, Ratha Yatra, besides the other seasonal offerings that are done by devotees.
