Ashwina Masa is the seventh month in a traditional Hindu Telugu calendar followed in Andhra Pradesh and Telengana. Telugu Ashvin Masam 2017 is from September 21 to October 19, 2017.  Navratri, Durga Puja, Dasara and Diwali some of the most important festivals in a Hindu calendar year is observed in Ashvina Month. Some of the other auspicious days in the month include Mahanavami, Vijaya Dasami, Kojagari Vratam, Narak Chaturdashi etc.

Somanath Brata 2017 date in Orissa

Somanath Brata is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva and is observed on the Dusshera or Vijaya Dasami day in Orissa. Somanath Brata 2017 date is September 30. Women fast on the day from sunrise and the fast is broken upon the completion of the puja in the evening.

Somanath Brata day evening various types of offerings are made to Shiva and this includes a sweet made using wheat, grated coconut, sugar and spices known as Manda Pitha. Other offerings are ten different types of fruits and ten types of flowers.
