Guru Pratipada - Shree Kshetra Ganagapur

Guru Pratipada is an auspicious day observed the day after Maghi Purnima, full moon day in Magh month (January – February) as per traditional Hindu calendar followed in Maharashtra. Guru Pratipada 2025 date is February 13.

The day is of great importance in numerous temples and sacred spots in western and northern parts of India. The famous Ganagapur Yatra is observed on the day.

Guru Pratipada is also the day when Dattavatari Shri Nrusimha Saraswati Swami Maharaj left the physical body and merged with the Supreme Soul.


Sri Nrusimha Saraswati Swami is believed to be the the second incarnation of Lord Dattatreya.

A week long rituals, satsangs and cultural programs are organized during the period. The prayers culminate on the last day which is also the most important day popularly known as Guru Pratipada. It is observed on the first day during the Krishna Paksha of Magha Mahina as per traditional calendar followed in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
