What does Arjuna Mean? – Meaning of Arjun – the third of the Pandavas

Arjuna means the white one, bright or clear. Arjuna is a person of clear, inner nature, one whose mind is spotless and clean of all impurities. Such an empty and stainless mind is ready to receive divine wisdom and the highest understanding. This is the reason why Lord Krishna explained the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, when he was suffering from indecision and doubt.

In the Rig Veda, the clear, sunny and bright day is referred to as ‘Arjunam.’

Arjuna was a partial incarnation of the King of the Gods, Indra. He is the third of the five Pandava brothers of the Mahabharata. He was unrivaled in archery.
