Santan Saptami Vrat 2024 Date

Santan Saptami Vrat is observed on the seventh day during the waxing phase of moon, or Shukla Paksha, of Bhadrapad month as per traditional Hindu lunar calendar. Santan Saptami Vrat 2024 date is September 10. This vrat is observed for begetting children and also for removing all the worries associated with children. The greatness of Santan Saptami Vrat was narrated to Yudhishtira by Sri Krishna.

Married couples who desire to have healthy children pray to Hindu God Shiva and Goddess Parvati on the day. This vrat is performed by both men and women.

How to observe Santan Saptami Vrat?

On the day of the Santan Saptami Vrat, those performing the vrat wake up early in the morning and offer prayers to Vishnu, Shiva and Parvati.

In the afternoon special prayers are offered to Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Offerings made include paste of sandalwood, rice, lamps, naivedya (Prasad), supari and coconut.

Prasad is prepared using jaggery – it is any sweet that contains jaggery or kheer. In some regions puris are also offered.

A mauli or red thread is offered to Shiva and this is then worn by those who observe fast. A story associated with the Vrat is heard or read by couples.

The Prasad that is offered to the deities is consumed on the day by those observing the vrat.

संतान सप्तमी के दिन माताएं सुबह स्नानादि के पश्चात व्रत करने का संकल्प भगवान शिव और मां पार्वती के सामने लें। पूजा के लिए चौकी सजाएं और फिर शिव-पार्वती की मूर्ति रखने के पश्चात नारियल के पत्तों के साथ कलश स्थापित करें। इस दिन निराहार अवस्था में शुद्धता के साथ पूजन का प्रसाद तैयार कर लें।

दोपहर के समय तक इस व्रत की पूजा कर लेनी चाहिए। पूजा के लिए धरती पर चौक बनाकर उस पर चौकी रखते हुए उस पर भगवान शंकर व माता पार्वती की मूर्ति स्थापित करें। अब कलश की स्थापना करते हुए उसपर आम के पत्तों के साथ नारियल रखें।

वहीं इसके बाद आरती की थाली तैयार करते हुए उसमें हल्दी, कुमकुम, चावल, कपूर, फूल, कलावा आदि सामग्री रख लें। फिर भगवान के सामने दीपक जलाएं और फिर केले के पत्ते में बांधकर 7 मीठी पूड़ियों को पूजा स्थान पर रख दें। जिसके बाद संतान की रक्षा और उन्नति के लिए प्रार्थना करते हुए भगवान शंकर को कलावा अर्पित करें।

मान्यता के अनुसार पूजा के समय सूती का डोरा या फिर चांदी की संतान सप्तमी की चूड़ी हाथ में अवश्य पहननी चाहिए। माना जाता है कि संतान सप्तमी के पूजन के पश्चात धूप, दीप नेवैद्य अर्पित करने के बाद संतान सप्तमी की कथा जरूर पढ़नी या सुननी चाहिए। वहीं इसके बाद कथा पुस्तक का भी पूजन करना चाहिए। इसके बाद भगवान को भोग लगाकर व्रत खोलना चाहिए।
