Dhanu Masam is the fifth month followed in a traditional Malayalam calendar followed in Kerala. Dhanu Masam 2012 – 2013 begins on December 16, 2012 and ends on January 14, 2013. Sabarimala Mandala Puja is one of the most important festivals in the month.
Another major highlight of the month is the Thiruvathira festival observed on the Thiruvathira Nakshatram day in the month. Lord Vishnu temples will be observing the Swarga Vathil Ekadasi in the month – this festival is popularly known as the Vaikunta Ekadasi.

Next Malayalam month is the Makara Masam on the first day of the month is the famous Makaravilakku festival at Sabarimala.
