Bhavaphala In Hindu Astrology

Bhavaphala is a term in astrology. Bhavaphala literally means the impact of the planets occupying any of the 12 bhavas (houses) in a horoscop. Bhavaphala signifies the joys and sorrows of a the person’s life according to horoscope astrology.

From the first to the twelfth, each bhava signifies a particular aspect of the life of the native. The first bhava indicates his physical stature, color, form, health, natural disposition or tendencies, and personality.

The second indicates financial matters and movable property. The third indicates courage. The fourth indicates happiness, domestic environment, private affairs, secrets and secret life. This bhava also indicates immovable property.

The fifth indicates education and progeny and the sixth stands as an indication of diseases, sorrows, debt, poverty and sufferings.

The seventh indicates matrimonial relationship, business, and partnership, whereas the eight indicates longevity, hidden wealth, premature death or suicide, and reverses in war.

The ninth and tenth bhava indicate fortune and profession respectively.

The eleventh indicates the source of earnings and relations with friends while the twelfth indicates loss and impediments, waste and extravagance, drudgery, and deception.

If inauspicious planets occupy a particular bhava and/or aspect some bhava, the bhavaphala of that bhava is said to be harmful to the person. Inauspicious planets occupying sixth, eighth, and twelfth houses, give results for the concerned house; for instance, exalted Saturn in the eighth house gives a long life.
