head to foot.
Masani Amman is depicted with four hands, each holding
significant items with deep symbolic meanings. In one hand, she holds a damaru,
a small two-headed drum, around which a snake is entwined, symbolizing the
cosmic rhythm of creation and destruction. In another hand, she carries a fire
bowl, representing purification and the burning away of impurities. The third
hand holds a bowl containing kumkuma, a red turmeric powder used in religious
