Once upon a time, in the ancient land of Bharat, there lived two rakshasa brothers named Ghanta and Karna. These two demons were notorious for their malevolent deeds and were feared by all who crossed their path. However, destiny had a different plan in store for them.
Despite their wicked nature, Ghanta and Karna harbored a
seed of longing within their hearts – a desire for redemption, a yearning to
transcend the cycle of birth and death. Hearing tales of the benevolence of
Bhagavan Vishnu, they resolved to seek salvation through penance and devotion.
Renouncing their past ways, Ghanta and Karna retreated to
the depths of the forest, where they embarked on a journey of rigorous
austerity. For years, they endured the harshness of the elements, meditating
upon the divine form of Vishnu with unwavering focus and devotion.
Their penance was severe – they subsisted on meager
offerings of roots and fruits, endured the scorching heat of the sun and the
biting cold of the night, and remained steadfast in their resolve despite
numerous challenges and temptations.
Moved by their sincerity and dedication, Bhagavan Vishnu
appeared before them, his divine form radiating with boundless compassion.
Pleased with their devotion, he granted Ghanta and Karna the ultimate boon –
liberation from the cycle of samsara.
With tears of joy streaming down their faces, Ghanta and
Karna prostrated themselves before the Lord, their hearts overflowing with
gratitude and reverence. In that sacred moment, the shackles of their past
deeds were broken, and they were freed from the chains of ignorance and
suffering.
As they breathed their last, Ghanta and Karna merged into the divine light of Vishnu, their souls liberated and at peace. Their story serves as a timeless reminder that moksha – the ultimate goal of human life – is attainable by all, regardless of age, sex, caste, or social status, through single-minded focus and supreme devotion to the divine.
