Mattool Kavile Paramb Kottan Tharammal temple is located at Matool in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Vayanattu Kulavan and other related deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held once in two years two days in Malayalam Vrischika Masam – Vrischikam 25 to Vrischikam 26 (December 10 to December 11). The last theyyam was held here in 2023.
Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Mattool Kavile
Parambu Kottan Tharammal temple are Vayanattu Kulavan theyyam, Kudiveeran
theyyam and Kandanar Kelan theyyam.
There is a small square sanctum of the main deity here and the
roof is decorated traditionally with religious motifs. Other deities are
worshipped atop square platforms and under trees. The important pujas and
rituals are observed on Sankranti day as per Malayalam calendar.
