Makreri Pilanhi Thandarathu Kavu temple is located at Makreri in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Vayanattu Kulavan and other deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for three days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 12 to Kumbham 15 (February 22 to Feb 24).
Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Makreri Pilanhi Thandarathu Kavu are Vayanattu Kulavan theyyam, Pokkichi Pothi, Manathana Pothi and Athotti Chekavar theyyam.
This is a small beautiful Kerala style temple with
traditional architecture. There is a chathura sreekovil for the main deity.
There are also small sreekovils and square platforms for worshipping subsidiary
deities. Some deities are worshipped under trees. Sankranti in every Malayalam
month is of great importance here.
