Kuthirummal Thekkethalakkal Tharavadu Devasthanam Temple – Kaliyattam Theyyam Thira Festival

Kuthirummal Thekkethalakkal Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Kuthirummal near Kunhimangalam in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavathi, Chamundi, Vayanattu Kulavan and other deities that are worshipped in kavu, sacred places and temples in the region. The theyyam festival is held here for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam (Kumbham 8 to Kumbham 9) – February 21 to Feb 22.

Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kuthirummal Thekkethalakkal Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Brahmanjeri Bhagavathi theyam, Vayanattu Kulavan theyyam, Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Kandanarkelan theyyam, Gulikan theyyam, Kundor Chamundi theyyam and Kurathi theyyam.

This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil for the main deity. There are other smaller sreekovils and raised platforms for other deities. Certain deities are worshipped under trees. This is a family-owned small shrine. Sankranti in a Malayalam month is of great importance.
