Oriyarakkavu Vishnumurthy temple is located at Mavilakkadappuram in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Vishnumoorthi and other related deities. The annual Kaliyattam theyyam thira festival is held for two days in Malayalam Thula Masam – Thulam 28 to Thulam 29 (November 13 to November 14).
Important theyyams that can be seen at Oriyarakkavu Vishnumurthi
temple are Ankakkulangara Bhagavathi theyyam, Ayitti Bhagavathi theyyam, Thee
Chamundi or Ottakolam, Raktha Chamundi theyyam and Uchoolikadavathu Bhagavathy
theyyam.
There is a square sanctum or chathura sreekovil for the main deity here. There are other smaller sreekovils. The roofs and walls of the sanctum are decorated with traditional motifs. Other deities are worshipped atop square platforms and under trees. The important pujas and rituals are observed on Sankranti day as per Malayalam calendar.
