Kannapuram Areekulangara Sree Muchilottu Bhagavathy temple is located at Kannapuram in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Muchilot Bhagavathy. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for four days in Malayalam Dhanu Masam – Dhanu 19 to Dhanu 20 (January 3 to January 6).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kannapuram Areekulangara Sree Muchilottu Bhagavathy temple are Muchilott Bhagavathi theyyam, Narambil Bhagavathi theyyam, Kannangattu Bhagavathi and Puliyoor Kannan theyyam.
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil for the
main deity. The roof of the shrine is traditionally decorated. There are other
smaller shrines here. Some deities are worshipped atop square platforms and
under trees. Sankranti in a Malayalam month is of great importance.
