Erikkulam Padinhar Chamundi temple is located at Erikkulam near Madikai in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Chamundi, Vishnumoorthi and numerous other deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for nine days in Malayalam Thula Masam – Thulam 21 to Thulam 29 (November 7 to November 15).
Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Erikkulam Padinhar Chamundi temple are Anjanagum Bhootham, Gulikan theyyam, Padinjare Chamundi theyyam, Rakteshwari theyyam, Raktha Chamundi theyyam, Pannikulathu Chamundi, Panniyum Chamundiyum and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil for the
main deity. The roof of the shrine is traditionally decorated. There are other
smaller sreekovils and raised platforms for other deities. Certain deities are
worshipped under trees. Sankranti in a Malayalam month is of great importance.
