Cheruvathur Kovval Azhivathukkal Vishnumoorthi temple is located at Kovval near Cheruvathur in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Vishnumurthy. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for four days in Malayalam Thula Masam – Thulam 14 to Thulam 17 (October 31 to November 3).
Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Cheruvathur Kovval Azhivathukkal Vishnumoorthi are Ottakolam or Thee Chamundi and Raktha Chamundi theyyam.
This is a small temple with a chathura sreekovil for the
main deity. The roof of the shrine is traditionally decorated. There are other
smaller sreekovils and raised platforms for other deities. Some deities are
worshipped under trees. Sankranti in a Malayalam month is of great importance.
There is a beautiful pond attached to the temple.
