Mangad Theru Erinhikkeel Bhagavathy Temple – Theyyam – Kaliyattam Festival

Mangad Theru Erinhikkeel Bhagavathy temple is located at Mangad near Kalliasseri in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavathy and various deities that are commonly worshipped in kavu and tharavadu in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held once in two years for four days in Malayalam Meda Masam – Medam 18 to Medam 21 (May 3 to May 6).

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Mangad Theru Erinjikkeel Bhagavathy temple are Erinhikkal Bhagavathy theyyam, Pulikandan theyyam, Chuzhali Bhagavathi theyyam, Kshetrapalakan theyyam, Manjalamma theyyam and Neeliyar Bhagavathy theyyam.

This is a small traditional Kerala style temple with a decorated small chathura sreekovil. There are no huge structures. Other deities popularly worshipped in tharavadu in Kannur region are also worshipped in the temple in small sreekovils, under trees and atop small square raised platforms.
