Kallori Viswakarma Bhagavthy Temple – Theyyam Thira Kaliyattam Festival

Kallori Viswakarma Bhagavthy temple is located at Kallori near Kalliasseri in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavan Vishwakarma and Goddess Bhagavathy. The annual theyyam kaliyattam thira festival in the temple is held for two days in Malayalam Meda Masam – Medam 19 to Medam 20 (May 3 to May 4).

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kallori Vishwakarma Bhagavthy temple are Bali theyyam, Dharma Daivam, Bhagavathi theyyam, Nedumbaliyan theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.

This is a small traditional Kerala style temple with a chathura sreekovil. The walls and roof of the sanctum are decorated with traditional temple motifs. There are no major structures. Other deities popularly worshipped in Kavu and temples in Kannur region are also worshipped in the temple in small sreekovils, under trees and atop raised square platforms, which are exposed to the elements.

The annual festival days are noted various unique pujas and rituals, melam, decoration, fireworks and traditional temple performing art forms.

Sankranti in every Malayalamasam and Vishu are important days in the temple.
