Pullur Machippuram Chamundeswari Gulikan Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam Kaliyattam Thira Festival

Pullur Machippuram Chamundeswari Gulikan Devasthanam temple is located at Pullur in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari and Gulikan. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is observed for two days in Malayalam Vrischika Masam – Vrischikam 12 to Vrischikam 13 (November 27 to November 28).

Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Pullur Machippuram Chamundeswari Gulikan Devasthanam temple are Chamundeshwari theyyam and Gulikan Daivan theyyam.

The main deities worshipped in the temple are given space in Chathura Sreekovil (square sanctum sanctorum). The small shrines are traditionally decorated during festivals. The upa devatas are mainly worshipped atop small square platforms and under trees. Sankranti in every Malayala Masam is of great importance here. Gulikan theyyam is offered here by devotees to overcome diseases and various kinds of fear.
