Palayi Sree Mattummal Tharavadu temple is located at Palayi near Nileshwar in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi, Goddess Chamundi and Vishnumoorthi. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is observed for two days in Malayalam Vrischika Masam – Vrischikam 11 to Vrischikam 12 (November 26 to November 27).

Cheralath Bhagavathy theyyam, Cheriya Bhagavathy theyyam, Dhanyanghanathu
Bhagavathy theyyam, Gulikan theyyam, Padar Kulangara Bhagavathi theyyam, Raktha
Chamundi theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.
The main deities worshipped in the temple are given space in
Chathura Sreekovil (square sanctum sanctorum). The roof and walls of main
shrines have traditional Hindu motifs. The small shrines are traditionally decorated
during festivals. The upa devatas are mainly worshipped in small sreekovil, atop
small square platforms and under trees. Sankranti in every Malayalamasam is of
great importance here.
