Muthukuda Sree Bharanool Bhagavathy Kavu Temple – Theyyam Thira Kaliyattam Festival – Chorakkattiyamma Theyyam

Muthukuda Sree Bharanool Bhagavathy Kavu temple is located at Muthukua near Pattuvam in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. The annual kaliyattam thira theyyam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Dhanu masam – Dhanu 12 to Dhanu 13 (December 27 to December 28). The rare Chorakkattiyamma theyyam and Bharanool Bhagavathy can be witnessed here. അപൂർവ തെയ്യം ചോരക്കട്ടി ഭഗവതിയുള്ള കാവ്.


The important theyyam that can be witnessed at Muthukuda Sree Bharanool Bhagavathy Kavu temple are Chorakkatty Bhagavathy theyyam, Kalichan Daivam, Bharanool Bhagavathy, Vishnumorthi and Gulikan.

This is a small temple with a small chathura sreekovil for the main deity. The walls and roof of the shrine are decorated with traditional temple motifs. Other deities worshipped in the temple can be found atop small square platforms which are exposed to elements. Some deities are worshipped under trees.
