Mattangil Kayalil Puthiya Bhagavathi temple is located at Mattangil near Kannapuram in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Puthiya Bhagavathi. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 12 and Kumbham 13 (February 24 and Feb 25).
This is a small shrine with a square sanctum sanctorum
(chathura sreekovil) for the main deity. Other deities are worshipped in
smaller sreekovil and on raised square platforms. Certain deities are given
space under trees.
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Mattangil
Kayalil Puthiya Bhagavathi temple are Puthiya Bhagavathi theyyam, Veera Kali theyyam,
Veeran Theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.
മാറ്റാങ്കില് കയാലില് പുതിയഭഗവതി തിറ അടിയന്തിരം Feb 24, 25 തീയതികളില് നടക്കും. 24-ന് വൈകീട്ട് ഏഴിന് കായക്കഞ്ഞി വിതരണം, രാത്രി 10-ന് കാഴ്ചവരവ്, 25-ന് പുലര്ച്ചെ അഞ്ചിന് പുതിയഭഗവതിയുടെ പുറപ്പാട്. വീരന്, വീരാളി, വിഷ്ണുമൂര്ത്തി എന്നീ തെയ്യങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടാകും.
