Akkithiri (à´…à´•്à´•ിà´¤്à´¤ിà´°ി) is a person who has performed the famous Yajna Athirathram. Akkithiri is a corrupt form of the term Agnishri. There are three types of yajna known as Agnyadhanam, Agnistoma and Athirathram. They are also known as Adhanam, Yagam and Agni. They have to be performed in the given order.
The person who performs the three yajnas in order is known
as Adithiri, Somayaji (Chomathiri), Agnisree (Akkithiri).
Akkithiri is a person who has successfully completed all the
three yajnas in the prescribed order.
